11:31 am - A New Beginning
tori0116 Hi Everyone!

I'm the 1st VP of the Gamma Kappa chapter at Winthrop University.  Our chapter has been only female for the past couple decades.  Long story-short, after a ton of meetings with department heads, we were finally able to open up to men and women this semester.  We are beginning rush next week, and this is new territory for all of us.  Does anyone have any advice/suggestions for our newly co-ed chapter?  It could be event ideas, things to watch out for, tips, anything would help!

9:15 pm - Alumni Chapter

Hi! I was a sister of the Delta Sigma Chapter at Indiana Univ. of PA and graduated in Spring '03. I currently live in Wilmington, DE and am looking for an alumni chapter or other brothers and sisters that live in my area. since I am missing DO quite a bit, especially since I'm working on my masters at a university where there is not a DO chapter, but other very active music fraternities. :(

1:42 pm - back to school

Hi everybody! I'm 1st V.P. of Delta Theta at Wayne State University in Detroit. I'm looking for suggestions for Rush Week. Things that've maybe worked for your chapters? We are still mostly a commuter school so some things are harder for us to do, but i'm looking for any new ideas that we could try.

I hope everybody's semesters are going well. Thanks in advance!

Hello all! I am an alumni member from the Delta Upsilon (kent State University) chapter of DO and I actually need the help of some of my brothers and sisters; are any of you currently residing in Massachusetts or know a chapter of our frat that is currently active in MA? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

1:10 pm - The Creed

Here is some interesting information we just received about the Creed from the DO President, after one of our members inquired about it. I thought it might be nice to share, since we've all prolly wondered about its origins.

12:21 am - WHY we are Delta Omicrons

The purpose of Delta Omicron shall be:
To create and foster fellowship through music; to strengthen a devotion and loyalty to the Alma mater; to develop character and excellence of individual performance and appreciation of good music; to give material aid to worthy music students
The objectives of Delta Iota shall be:
To advance high ethical standards of professional conduct in the musical world; to do any and all things conductive to the service, betterment and ultimate welfare of musicians.

Hmmm.... let's contemplate what this means, and what our obligations are as members of this fraternity.

6:29 pm - Spring Perspective Members

We are currently going through the Perspective Memeber class. I can't believe how great these girls are doing. My Lil is awesome, she is doing a lot better than the first couple of weeks of this. I know that she is really wanting to be a DO and I hope that she does make it in. She and the rest of her class will be great additions to the Fraternity.

My name is Sarah Driggers, and I currently attend Florida Southern College. We have an active chapter of Delta Omicron on our campus. I'm so glad that I've found this community, and I can find out what's going on with other chapters. Anyways, Hi!

10:59 pm - Memories...

When the days of my life I shall look back upon,
I'll cherish the name of Delta Omicron.
The good times we had, the friendships we made,
the striving together, such memories do not fade.

When the days of my youth become days of my past,
I'll remember and cherish the things that will last.
D. O. is part of me and always shall be be;
to her now I pledge my eternal loyalty.

This song gives me the warm fuzzies... and can I just say that I love D.O. and everyone in it.

Our chapter (Delta Iota- Central Michigan University) just had open rush with PMA and SAI and we sang this song, along with the prayer, and I just thought I'd post it here for everyone to read the words and maybe think about them for a minute or two...

11:24 am - ...and i'm an alumni....*tear*

Last night was our chapter's alumni ceremony and I was one of the ones being dubbed alumni. It was very sad. The strange thing was that we really needed that as a sort of reality check for why we're all in D.O. in the first place.

I'm really gonna miss being a part of this group, and I will try to do the best I can to stay active with alumni stuff. I have learned so much from the people in this group and being in this group. Probably one of the coolest things I've ever done is go to the last conference. I can't tell you how neat it was to hear the creed and sing the prayer with the national e-board and all the reps from all the chapters. It moved me to tears.

So, thanks D.O. for changing my life. I will never forget you or the people I've met. Good luck everyone with music and teaching and whatnot.

Well the Alpha Epsilon chapter has been busy in these last few days. We did "door" decorations for our teachers. The doors are really long soundboards from the practice rooms. Basically we pick a door or two and figure out how we want to decorate it. I did the percussion teacher and my voice teacher. I made a heart with percussion instruments and wrote "The best christmas gift is love" because she is getting married (to another percussion player). For my teacher? "Top 10 reasons why Dr. Jones is no Grinch".
We keep who did the door a secret until the Faculty Tea.

Our chapter was going to go Christmas Caroling but we had to call it off due to lack of participtation. Do any of you have trouble with participation? It is a constant problem with our chapter.

Something that stuck me tonight:

Our creed from DO. We say it every week, but does anyone really take the time to think about it? Pretty humbling to stop and let it sink in once and a while:

Creed of Delta Omicron
This truth comes to us more and more, the longer we live, that in what field, or in what uniform, or with what aims we do our duty, matters very little; or even what our duty is, great or small, splendid or obscure, only to find our duty certainly and somewhere, somehow do it faithfully, makes us good, strong, happy and useful, and tunes our lives into some feeble echo of the life of God.
